Alumni Council

Our Mission

We believe an alumni council that engages with alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, volunteer boards, and friends of the Academy is essential to support the mission of the Academy and to strengthen the Academy and its community. We recognize that as graduates of Albuquerque Academy we have a responsibility to the Academy to preserve its resources and serve generations of children to come. Please update or submit your Alumni Council profile here.

In light of this belief and these responsibilities:

  • We recognize that the alumni are not only part of the history of the Academy, but are essential to its future.
  • We devote our time and resources to supporting and furthering the Albuquerque Academy’s mission of creating a caring, inclusive, and just community, including by supporting fundraising efforts for the Albuquerque Academy.
  • We promote interaction with and among alumni, and commit to strengthening the intellectual and emotional ties between alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, volunteer boards, and friends of the Academy.
  • We responsibly serve as ambassadors of the school to our communities.
  • We recognize the achievements of our alumni.

I joined the Alumni Council in 2018, bringing a unique perspective as alum, parent, faculty, administrator, and coach. I remain well connected to the school because of the tremendously positive impact it had on me, and I want to share my knowledge and passion with our broader alumni community. I believe my work on the Council is yet another way to contribute to the ongoing success of the school and of the alumni.

I got involved on the alumni council to give back to the school that gave so much to me. One of my goals is to help bridge the community and school whether it be through helping a senior find a senior project, being able to give some insight to a family of a child looking to attend the school, or help connect our existing alumni.

This is my seventh year on the Alumni Council. As an alumna and parent, I am very thankful to the school and to all of my wonderful teachers for all of the opportunities that they given me. I always look back fondly on my time I spent there as a student, and now as a parent.

I have served on the council for the past 6 years and held the position of president of the Alumni Council for a two year term that coincided with a two year stint on the Board of Trustees. As an alum, current parent and parent of a graduate it has been important to me to continue my involvement with the school and its mission. I believe the Academy provides the stepping stone to allow all graduates to succeed at the highest levels following graduation. I am proud to have many of my professional and personal relationships be alumni of the school. Some as mentors, some as friends and many as both.

I have been serving on the alumni council since 2006. I continue to remain an active member of the council so that I may give back to the school that gave me so many opportunities to succeed. I enjoy interacting with other alumni and keeping abreast as to what is going on with the Academy today.

I consider my time at the Academy to be the most formative of my educational career and my professional path. My husband is also an Academy alum and we both look back on our time there with great fondness as we met some of our best friends while attending. I serve on the alumni council because I enjoy spending time with others in the Academy community and I hope to do my small part to give back to a school that has been such an important part of my life.

The Academy was profoundly influential in my life and I feel so fortunate to have been able to attend school here. Serving on the council has allowed me to stay involved with the school and connected with the community. By donating my time to the Academy, I hope to contribute something of value to the continued success of the school so that others can realize the same benefits I did from attending the school.
